We have a fleet of two-person kayaks, or double kayaks, in which one person sits in front of the other and both take part in the paddling. It’s a fantastic option for couples, friends and parents with young children. One occupant must be at least 21 years old.
The location is the beautiful River Ouse on its passage through Bedford. We have our base at the Kempston Outdoor Centre, west of the town centre, where the lazy river meanders through meadows and around islands.
We will supply you with the equipment. As well as the kayak - which could be an enclosed or sit-on-top model - we provide paddles, buoyancy aids, a dry bag and a map of the area.
This is the price for 2 people for one hour. You can set off up or downstream and enjoy the natural paradise, keeping an eye out for kingfishers and water birds.

When your activity starts and finishes
You can rent our equipment any day of the week from March to November at the following times: 11:00 am, 12:15 pm, 1:30 pm and 2:45 pm.

Sharing it with someone you love! Climb about a double kayak and paddle together down the Great Ouse, from our rental base in Kempston Outdoor Centre to the heart of Bedford.
Our double kayaks are very intuitive to use, so this experience is open to all - beginners, casual paddlers, parents with young children, etc. We just ask that at least one of the people in the kayak be over 21 years of age.
We’ll give you a simple map of the river which shows the recommended route, between green banks and under bridges, to Bedford town centre. The itinerary takes about 2 hours to complete.
We’ll also supply you with a paddle and a buoyancy aid each, a dry bag for your valuables and, of course, the kayak. You can have a sit-on-top kayak or the enclosed version.
