Deal overview
If you have an advanced level in hiking or mountaineering, this excursion is for you since we will ascend to one of the highest peaks in the Mexican Republic, the Pico de Orizaba. The duration of this adventure is 2 days, where food, transportation from Mexico City and accommodation will be included.
On the first day, upon arriving in Tlachichuca, we will change vehicles for 4x4s to reach Piedra Grande. While there, we will dedicate it to an acclimatization walk, in which we will reach the third nest. We will also practice falls to learn self-arrest.
For the second day, we will begin the adventure by hiking from the Piedra Negra Shelter, little by little we will ascend to the nest area, we will reach the labyrinth and at the end, we will be on the glacier. At this point, it will be necessary to put on safety equipment and thus reach the top.
In total, the walk will be approximately 7 kilometers, so good physical condition and regular exercise are required. The height we will be reaching will be 5,747 meters above sea level.
