The sleeping woman is an experience like no other. Iztaccíhuatl can become your first high mountain experience, exceeding 5,000 meters above sea level. It is the second highest (climbable) mountain in Mexico and therefore should be on your list. You will walk through its three gates, to arrive shortly before dawn at the 5k refuge, we will take a breath, to continue ascending through the knee of this magical woman, the section of the route with the greatest physical and mental demand.
Reaching the knee you will enter an incredible world in which you will be able to walk on the glaciers of this "sleeping woman", where you will use, perhaps for the first time, crampons and ice axes (basic tools of a mountaineer), after crossing the glacier and the edges of the navel, we will reach 5250 meters above sea level, where the May summit of this mountain is located. Imagine the landscapes!
After a bite of satisfaction for such a demanding achievement, we will begin to descend everything we have climbed to get to eat some delicious quesadillas made on a comal, made by indigenous hands of the region, oh, and a pot coffee that will taste like glory to you. A simply delicious combination.
It is worth mentioning that this route is of high difficulty so it requires that you already have some experience in hiking or mountaineering, since it will be a total of 14 kilometers round trip. You will also have a tent included , accessories and attack backpacks. Come spend the best 2 days of your life reaching the top of this beautiful volcano and get views that are hard to believe.
