Deal overview
During the first day we will do an acclimatization walk to the Piedra Grande shelter, where the tents will be ready so you can rest in the afternoon. We will have dinner and before going to sleep, the guide will check your physical condition and make sure you are acclimatizing. The ascent will begin at 3:00 am the next day after having breakfast, our route will be the Jamapa Glacier in which the altitude will be our main challenge. We will walk until we reach the summit and enjoy spectacular landscapes. Then we will descend until we reach the OMG hostel to enjoy a delicious, well-deserved meal.
This is an intermediate level activity and we will reach a maximum altitude of 5,640 meters. So to join this adventure it is necessary that you have high mountain experience, we need that you have exceeded 5,000 meters of altitude in a mountain, that you have experience in using of crampons and ice axes on snow slopes with an inclination of up to 30 degrees and that you have previously slept in a tent at more than 4,000 meters of altitude.
On the other hand, excellent physical condition is also a requirement to carry out this walk, you need to have a very good level of cardiovascular resistance and that you have the condition to walk on terrain of mountain for 8 hours with a 6 to 8 kg backpack on my shoulder.
The ascent and the experience of spending the night in tents are completely safe, there will be a guide for every two people who has international experience in addition to having the WFR certification which is first aid in remote areas.
We will include the equipment individual technique that consists of a helmet, ice ax, canes and crampons and the common equipment that is made up of ropes, harness, first aid kit, radios, stoves, tents and kitchen utensils.
The meeting point will be the Parque Delta Shopping Center in CDMX at 6:00 am, if you need transportation to the mountain, you can request it for an additional cost.
