Mushing baptism in La Pierre-Saint-Martin - 20 min

We present to you a total immersion in the Pyrenees in the company of a qualified instructor and above all, a pack of Nordic dogs ready to take on the snow! 


Program of your dog sledding baptism:

• At the meeting place, in Arette, you will be met by your instructor and guide for the day, who will be happy to introduce the dogs to you. 
• After a short briefing, you will get ready and get on the sled: you will be seated at the front to be able to have a unique view of the dogs and of the white and wild landscapes of this Pyrenean region.
• You can enjoy your walk for approximately 20 minutes, before returning to the starting point.
• You will have a moment to say goodbye to the dogs and to debrief your activity with your loved ones and the instructor.

Here is an activity specially designed for lovers of dogs and wild nature: a ride on a sled pulled by dogs in the snowy trails of La Pierre-Saint-Martin.

Is the sporting experience tempting you?

If this is the case, you will have to come and join us at Arette, more precisely at our base to try out this new winter activity unique in the region. On site, you will be welcomed by the team of mushers who, to begin with, will introduce you to the Nordic dogs which make up the essential part of the company.

Once you are familiar with the safety instructions and seated in the front of the sled, you will be able to enjoy this unique view of the white landscapes of the Pyrenees and you will better appreciate the power and elegance of the canines that propel your sled. 

You will be able to take photos and interact for a little moment with the dogs, before leaving, to thank them. 


Good to know:

• The walk lasts approximately 30 minutes, but you will need to allow extra time for preparations.  
• This type of walk is done seated and under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
• The maximum weight on a sled is 115 kg: one adult and one child maximum. 
• It's free for babies under one year old.

If you like snow and animals, this premium option is for you: a sitting rideaboard a sled pulled by dogs in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques (64). 

Supervised and piloted by professional mushers, the sleds are specially designed to be alone or with your child (provided you respect the weight limits, of course). If you book as a group, rest assured, the sleds follow each other so you can enjoy this activity as a group.

Unlike shorter options, this will allow you to experience a more intense moment and cover a greater number of kilometers in the company of dogs, enough to make it a real experience!


Here is how the day of your reservation will take place:

• To withstand the cold, you will need to dress warm and waterproof, with shoes suitable for the occasion.
• The instructor and the dogs will receive you at the meeting place, in Arette-Pierre-Saint-Martin.
• You will receive a short briefing, in particular on safety, before you sit on the sled
• For an hour of time, you will travel through the snowy terrain of the Pyrenees region, while you admire up close the power and elegance of the Nordic dogs. 
• On the way back, you can take a few photos and give hugs to the dogs to thank them, if you wish.
