The Lake District has far more to offer than lakes and mountains.

Connecting the two, there are deep scars in the landscape where torrents of water crash between narrow walls. Ideal places for canyoning! One of our favourites is in Langdale, just outside Ambleside.

It has the intimidating name of Hell’s Gorge, but don’t let that put you off. In fact, our trips here are suitable for adventurous beginners, so long as they are over 14 years old. There are plunge pools, rapids and so,me huge abseiling sections to enjoy.

The experience consists of a hike to the start point - with some small gorges on the way - of about 30 minutes, a safety briefing, about 90 minutes in the water, and then a shorter hike back. In total you need to put aside half a day to enjoy it.

You need an experienced adventure guide for a trip like this, which is exactly why you should choose us. As well as a fantastic team, we also have comfortable and effective equipment - including lifejackets, wetsuits and helmets - that you’ll use. The things you need to bring are a swimsuit and footwear to use in and out of the water.
