30min C172 Trial Flight in Dunkeswell Aerodrome

We offer trial flights in our Cessna 172 aeroplane. This is a 4-seat plane, so you can take two passengers, sitting behind you and the pilot, up into the sky with you. There is a combined weight limit for the 3 participants of 230 kg, and a minimum age of 9 years old.

This is the price for a 30-minute flight. The duration of the experience is longer than that because, after welcoming you to Dunkeswell Aerodrome in Devon, we’ll brief you on flight basics and carry out pre-flight inspections and checks.

You’ll be taken through each stage by a qualified flight instructor. When everything’s ready, they’ll take off and prepare to give you control of the aircraft. This is possible as the C172 has dual controls.

You can fly the plane as much or as little as you want, up to 90% of the flight if you want excluding take-off and landing. In 30 minutes, your flight can take in spectacular views of Devon’s English Channel coast. When you return to Dunkeswell, you’ll receive a commemorative certificate.

If you’re wondering how someone with little to no experience of piloting a plane can have a go, it’s thanks to the dual controls of our Cessna 172. After a briefing and pre-flight checks with a flight instructor, you’ll be ready to follow their lead and safely fly the plane.

The 172 has 3 seats, aside from the pilot’s, so you can have an audience as you take the controls. Whether you’re flying solo or bringing 1 or 2 passengers, the combined weight limit is 230 kg and everyone must be 9 or older.

Our home turf is Dunkeswell Aerodrome, a few miles north of Honiton. If you’re hooked on flying by the end of the experience and a certificate isn't enough, we can advise you on training to become a private pilot.
