Where to take a hot air balloon flight in Bath?

In this city, there is only one place you can take off. This is at the Royal Victoria Park, located just outside of the heart of the city and beside the impressive Royal Crescent. There you'll find a wide range of hot air balloons to take you up for a breath-taking experience. You'll have the chance to see the best views of iconic sights from the skies, such as its baths and 18th century Georgian architecture.

Throughout your trip, you will pass over the most iconic villages of the Somerset countryside, such as Lacock and Castle Coombe, the Avebury Stone Circle, the market town of Bradford-on-Avon and even the stunning Kennet & Avon Canal that runs through the region.

Balloon flights have no fixed destination, and as such, depend on the weather and wind direction. But what is clear is that during a flight over Bath, you will be able to look down from a unique vantage point over its famous baths, its green and impressive parks such as Prior Park and Pulteney Bridge.

There are many places you'll fly over during your flight, so don't hesitate to give this experience in the skies a try and treat yourself to an experience you'll never forget.

How long does a ride last?

Hot air balloon flights usually have a duration of 1 hour, but that is only the estimated flight time. The reality is that it is an activity that requires approximately 4 hours. This is because the experience is more than just the flight itself.

The adventure in this city begins when you arrive at Royal Victoria Park, where the professional will be waiting for you to accompany you throughout the experience. They will first give you a short briefing on the activity, explaining the safety rules and flight procedure. You will then be given a demonstration of how the hot air balloon is inflated and you will even have the opportunity to take part in the process. Once this phase is over, it's time to climb into the basket. Once you're in the basket, the balloon will be ignited and you'll begin your ascent into the skies.

After an hour of flying, you will land wherever the weather conditions allow. You need not worry as there is a team of professionals waiting for you on the ground and constantly following the balloon. This way, once you land, they are already waiting for you with a bottle of cava to toast the experience. And that's not all - afterwards you'll be given a flight certificate and you'll return to the starting point to end the experience.

When is the best time to do this experience?

Without a doubt, the best time of year for ballooning in this area of England in general is in the summer. As mentioned above, it is a weather-dependent activity, so the months from June to September are the best months to enjoy a trip. However, you should be aware that flights are available in all seasons and if your flight is cancelled due to weather conditions, you will be rescheduled for another day.

Requirements to do this activity

If you were thinking of sharing this experience with your loved ones, you should be aware that one of the requirements to be able to fly in is to be at least 1.10 metres tall in order to be able to get in and out of the basket without any problems. The minimum age to do this activity is 7 years old and, if you are under 16 years old, you must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian.

Now you know what you need to make your experience an amazing one. What are you waiting for?
