We want you to live and understand how it feels to fly over a place this beautiful, and no better way than in a craft as incredible as a hot air balloon. For this reason, we have prepared below everything you need to know to enjoy the experience from the very first minute.

Where are the best places to fly in a hot air balloon in Dorset?

Although the highlight of this place is its 200 million year old Jurassic coastline, the reality is that you need good conditions to fly. That's why the take-off point for ballooning in the county is at Shaftesbury.

This north town is perfect for this activity through the clouds. It's a little way from the coast and thanks to the swaying wind you'll be able to drift in the basket, soaring over places such as Blackmore Vale, Weymouth, Somerset and Wiltshire. You'll see unique landscapes such as the iconic Gold Hill as well as Blandford Forum, characterised by its Gregorian architecture.

Shaftesbury is the only major settlement that is located on a hillside, which makes it very special. That's why we recommend that you take your flight at sunrise, as you'll be able to see the green valleys, fields and hills that are typical of the region, infused with the colours of the sunrise. It's an experience you'll never forget with your friends and family - even your partner! You can even enjoy a private flight and take a ride through the skies of the county in a romantic and unforgettable way.

How long does a ride last?

Hot air ballooning is not just about the experience of being in the air - it starts from the moment the balloon is inflated. When you arrive at the take-off point, the instructors and pilot will let you take part in the inflation of the craft. This is a very special moment for the passengers on the flight. Once the balloon is inflated, you will climb into the basket and the basket is connected once the fire is ignited, propelling the flying artifact. Little by little you will feel yourself ascending into the skies and the ride will begin.

Whilst you enjoy the breeze and the ride through the clouds of England, a team of professionals will follow the balloon from the ground so that once the landing begins, they will be there waiting for you. This is because balloon flights don't have a fixed destination when you fly, as it is all dependent on the wind conditions.

Upon landing, you can toast with champagne to the experience and you will receive a certificate for the flight. This is undoubtedly one of the finest air activities and lasts approximately 4 hours.

What is the minimum age?

If you were thinking of enjoying this activity with your family, you should be aware that the minimum age to get into in England is 7 years old. However, there are companies that allow anyone over 1.10 metres tall, as this is the minimum height required to get in and out of the basket.

How many people can fit?

Balloon trips are experiences that you can choose to do shared or privately. The standard flight has a capacity of between 12 and 16 people. However, it's up to you whether you wish to go privately with your family or your partner. There is nothing like flying over the region countryside accompanied by your favourite person and toasting with champagne. The perfect plan for a romantic Valentine's Day.

When is the best time to go on a trip?

It shouldn't be news to you that the weather is usually cold and rainy in England. As this is an aerial activity, it is very important to be aware of the weather conditions, so the best time for ballooning is in July and August, when there is no rain and you can enjoy the best sunrises and sunsets.

Even still, you can fly at any time of the year, weather permitting. If you are unable to fly on your booked day, your flight day can be changed to one when the weather allows it.

These are the most important points for ensuring that your trip is a complete success and that you enjoy it to the fullest. Do you already have an idea of when you can enjoy this extraordinary experience?
