Hot Air Balloon Rides Bristol 7 prices and offers 2026

Bristol is known for being a fashionable city, with a thriving film and music industry in England, but if that wasn't enough, this city is also famous for hosting one of the biggest hot air balloon events in the world. So much so that it is the meeting point for the International Balloon Fiesta. After reading this, if you were already planning on coming, you're sure to be even more excited, right? And it's only natural, because you can't do this activity just anywhere. What better way to discover the beauty that this city has to offer than flying over it in a balloon?

If this city is hosting this world-famous event, it's for a reason, and now you have the chance to try it out. If you've been thinking about a trip and you can only choose one month, we recommend you do it in August, which is when the festival is held, to get the full experience.

Where to go ballooning in Bristol?

This activity is only available from the Ashton Court Estate. This departure point is less than 10 minutes from the city centre. In this park you will be able to see the famous 11th century estate that is situated there. The mansion in Ashton Court is considered a point of interest because of its historical significance, so as well as enjoying a unique ballooning experience, you can also learn about Bristol's history and culture.

Throughout the flight, you will be able to see important parts of the city, such as the cathedral, Clifton Suspension Bridge and Queen Square from a unique perspective. You will also be able to see the harbour from above, where you can find the SS Great Britain, renowned for being the first propeller ship in the world. The route you will take over the city will depend on the weather conditions on that day, but we assure you that you will be able to discover these key sights over the county.

Flights usually leave Ashton Court Estate very early in the morning or early evening, as these are the best times to fly. But we can assure you it's worth the early start. You will be able to see the area's landscapes washed in the orange tones of the sunrise or the pink of the sunset. Without a doubt, this is a unique experience that is not to be missed.

How long does this experience last?

The experience of ballooning has to be done at a leisurely pace, as it is not an activity you can rush. It usually takes between 3 and 4 hours in total, as the balloon has to be assembled first. We recommend that you take part in this process, as it is something very enjoyable and rewarding. After helping to set everything up, the flight begins, which usually lasts about an hour. During this time you'll be able to enjoy the best views of the region and its incredible scenery, so be prepared with your camera because you'll be snapping away. When the hour is up, the balloon will land and you can once again try your hand in the process of dismantling the balloon. We can assure you that assembling and dismantling the balloon are two totally different animals, and so don't hesitate to participate in both!

As you will find out, it is much better to be able to take your time with this experience, rather than rushing through everything, which is why the total duration is longer than you might have imagined. However, we assure you that if you decide to do this activity here, you won't be disappointed, because you will be spending quality time.

What is the bes time of year to fly?

You wouldn't exactly say that this is a city where rain is rare. About half of the year it’s raining and cold. For this reason, we recommend that you take a balloon flight activity in the summer season, when the weather is at its best.

Moreover, the months of July and August in Bristol are most rewarding, not only because of the clear, cloudless skies, but also because the city is full of life and joy. Do not hesitate to try this activity, as the landscapes will leave you speechless.
