Located in the Cantabrian Mountains, in the Campoo Valley (Cantabria), 24 kilometres from Reinosa and 96 from Santander, the resort has a minimum altitude of 1,650 metres and a maximum elevation of 2,125. Alto Campoo boasts facilities such as a children's park, medical services, restaurants, and cafés, making it even more spectacular.

Off-piste, there’s a wide variety of slopes with different difficulty levels and snow that settles exceptionally well due to its proximity to the sea (it’s the closest resort to the coast in Spain), minimising avalanche risk.

Snowboard in Alto Campoo

Within Campoo’s freeride terrain, standout slopes include "Cornón", Castro, Cuchillón, and Tres Mares—all of medium difficulty, featuring varied rocks and drops for an extra thrill.

To learn to ski or try snowboarding in Alto Campoo, there are several schools (Escuela Española, Escuela Cántabra, Escuela Calgosa...) offering top-tier instruction and equipment hire if needed. Multiple rental shops also provide gear for all disciplines.

The resort itself offers a range of accommodation and dining options at varying prices, from hostels (Juvenil, Tajahierro) to the Hotel La Corza Blanca. Nightlife at the base is limited, but Reinosa—just a few kilometres away—has a lively winter après-ski scene.

Snowboarding

Despite limited support from the resort, snowboarding is growing in popularity at Alto Campoo. It was one of Spain’s first ski resorts to embrace the sport, though its initial decision was to ban it.

Times have changed: snowboarding is no longer a niche for "rowdy kids" but a mainstream activity enjoyed by people of all ages.

Here’s hoping for a snowy season (what really matters!) and that you’ll visit the resort—where you’re guaranteed a warm welcome from locals and businesses alike.
