Spread across the country, we have over 30 resorts between Spain and Andorra. Most of them offer snow activities suitable for all types of visitors, with a very wide range of options.
Aragonese Pyrenees
- In the Pyrenees of Huesca, you’ll find some of the best slopes to start with this sport. For example, the Candanchú Resort, perfectly equipped for this purpose, boasts nearly 4 km of green runs spread across 10 slopes. It also has 12 blue runs. Plus, it features a snow park perfect for the little ones: "Candanchulandia".
- We head to another valley in the Aragonese Pyrenees, the Tena Valley, where you’ll find the famous Formigal-Panticosa resort. Though not as well-equipped as the previous one, it offers numerous green and blue slopes (7 and 19, respectively). It has its own ski school. The best areas are Sextas, Portalet, and Anayet.
- Another great option is the well-known Cerler in the municipality of Benasque. It features 11 green runs and 17 blue ones—impressive! All three resorts naturally offer private lessons with instructors for all ages and skill levels. Here you’ll find all the options.

Catalan Pyrenees
- Another highly sought-after snow destination is the Catalan Pyrenees in the northeast of the country. One of the best resorts for beginners is Vallter 2000, in Girona, a small resort with 4 green runs and 3 blue ones. In the lower part of the resort, the little ones can enjoy the snow, as it’s the most suitable area for them. Plus, they have a team of fully qualified instructors. A peaceful, perfect resort!
- Spain’s largest resort, Baqueira-Beret, is also great for beginners. It has 6 green runs and up to 40 blue ones. Amazing! It’s the resort with the most children’s parks, so if you’re travelling to the Arán Valley, don’t worry—everything’s covered.

Andorra
- Also in the Pyrenees, we find the great Grandvalira resort in our neighbouring country. This resort boasts the largest skiable area in Southern Europe, making it perfect for beginners. There are plenty of specialised courses depending on your skill level. A fantastic place!
Sierra Nevada
- We move south to another of Spain’s major resorts. Sierra Nevada Resort has loads of slopes suitable for first-timers—to be exact, 19 green runs and over 40 blue ones. Incredible!

Another great area is the Central System, which includes resorts like Pinilla or Puerto de Navacerrada, also perfect for anyone just starting to ski.
As you can see, most of Spain’s major ski resorts are perfectly suited for beginners. They all have top-notch facilities, great professionals, and above all, a passion for teaching and fostering a love for the sport.
