Paintball, considered for years as one of the world's most popular pastimes, still raises questions and maintains an air of mystery about the game itself. Do the pellets hurt? Can you play in bad weather? Is it possible to use your own paintball gear?
We want to provide you with an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) so you can definitively resolve any doubts when booking your paintball session.
1. What happens if it rains on the day of the paintball game?
2. Do paintball markers require special maintenance if they get wet?
3. Do paintballs hurt?
4. Can I play with my own paintball equipment?
5. How many players can participate in a paintball game?
6. Where can you play paintball in France?

1. Rain doesn't prevent you from playing. In fact, the game becomes more fun and can take on a more realistic edge. However, it's ultimately up to the provider to decide whether the game can go ahead. If they determine that rain might interfere with gameplay or compromise the paintball team's safety, they may reschedule (most common) or refund your booking.
2. Paintball markers need thorough drying after use in wet conditions to prevent rust or paint chipping. After every session, it's recommended to clean all equipment using a stiff-bristled brush lightly dampened with warm water. This extends your marker's lifespan. The same applies to masks.
3. The ammunition used in paintball consists of paint-filled pellets coated in a thin plastic film. Upon impact, this casing bursts immediately. It doesn't cause excessive pain - especially as you're protected by a full-body suit and mask. You might get a bruise, but it's not particularly painful.
4. Generally, when booking at a paintball field, the company provides all equipment. If you're a regular player with your own marker, you can ask organisers about using personal gear.
5. Paintball is a team sport - the more players, the better. Typically, matches involve 12 to 20 players split into two teams.
6. France has paintball sites nationwide. Hérault, Nord, Bas-Rhin, Haute-Garonne... To simplify your search, click here for all French paintball options.
In France, we recommend not delaying your paintball adventure with friends and family. Fun, strategy and only one winning team - what are you waiting for?
