2005 marked the birth of this competition, which has evolved over time to the point where top America's Cup teams now join the circuit, raising the competitive standard. Adventure sports enthusiasts have reason to celebrate, as an increasing number of sailors dedicate themselves to battling wind and tide to steer their vessels to victory.

The inaugural race featured just seven boats at the starting line, but the fleet grew throughout the season to reach eleven vessels, competing in Valencia's SM La Reina Trophy, followed by Copa del Rey in Palma. Each edition has attracted more followers since the event's success, with global media covering the spectacle.

MedCup 2010 begins

The 2010 Audi MedCup Circuit comprises five venues, four countries and two fleets, with Cascais in Portugal as the first stop. The calendar begins in May on the Atlantic, with June scheduled for Mediterranean sailing; Marseille, Barcelona, Cartagena and Cagliari will eagerly await the teams' arrival.

This edition introduces several innovations aimed at building on the success of the product as it enthusiastically approaches its sixth season. One standout feature is the opportunity for each boat to carry a guest onboard during any race in the circuit. This allows enthusiasts to experience the thrill of boat trips firsthand.

If you're keen to witness this circuit up close, don't miss the activities organised on the day before racing. Visit the harbour to explore the boats when the Public Village opens its doors.

Contests, concerts, piloting simulators, chill-out zones and fun zones are just some of the possibilities MedCup 2010 offers. A giant screen in the LiveZone will broadcast the best race footage, along with interviews, concerts and even the set for the four-hour programme dedicated to the competition.

Families needn't worry - children will be entertained while you enjoy the racing days in complete relaxation. A central pool with remote-controlled boats or mini-pedalos, a climbing wall and an inflatable TP52 will be among the attractions for younger visitors.

 Five months of competitions

With two separate divisions - TP52 Series and GP42 Series - each will have distinct races. The former will feature 50 races across the circuit's 5 events, while the GP42 Series has 45 races scheduled, starting one day apart.

Victory simply requires crossing the finish line first, with the seasonal aim being to accumulate the fewest points. Every race counts, so sailors must decide their priorities: winning a leg, a trophy or the entire Circuit.

Points are awarded based on each race's standings: one point for first place, two for second, three for third and so on. Each event crowns both a TP52 and GP42 winner, with an overall season champion for each class.

We'll witness the unfolding of one of the most anticipated watersports competitions. The sixth edition promises excitement.
