Adventure activities are the ideal choice for those looking to do something out of the ordinary during their leisure time. Fishing in any environment, whether in marine or inland waters, has its charm. However, this requires several prerequisites besides proper equipment, one of which is a fishing licence.
- Ministry of Environment: This is where you'll need to submit your application. You can do this in person, or remotely via internet or phone, and you'll receive it at home.
- Complete the application form: You'll need to fill in all mandatory fields with accurate details including full name, address, date of birth, identification document, etc. You'll need to sign it.
- Pay the fees. These are payable at financial institutions partnered with the Autonomous Community where you reside, as indicated on the licence application form. The fee amount may vary.
- Required documentation. You'll need to submit, along with the application and fee payment receipt, a photocopy of your ID card. For those under 16, authorisation from legal guardians is required, while retirees or disabled persons must provide certifying documents.
Different fishing methods will determine which licence you need. Currently, the most popular is the river fishing licence, available to applicants of any age, though authorisation is required for those under 16.
Note that increasingly more Autonomous Communities are deciding on the duration and renewal of these licences, so you must ensure your fishing licence doesn't expire and you can fish without any issues.
If you choose to take up fishing, you can be certain you won't regret it. You may also wish to purchase insurance for anglers that covers all potential inconveniences you might encounter.
