Although quad bikes have long existed in rural and utilitarian contexts, early sport models were initially dismissed as too dangerous. Fortunately, advancements in technology have made them increasingly popular, spawning an entire ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) culture.

ATVs or quad bikes cater to all tastes, skill levels, and ages, as their engine capacity varies depending on the target audience. However, they remain motor vehicles requiring practice, experience, and respect—hence these safety precautions:
  • Learn proper handling techniques
  • Wear a helmet and appropriate protective gear (as motorcyclists do)
  • Avoid riding quad bikes on tarmac. Their tyres, traction, and suspension are designed for loose terrain, making them harder to control on paved roads.
  • Never let a child operate an adult-sized quad bike
  • Always verify the rider’s driving licence!
That’s right! Riding a quad bike legally requires a licence issued by Road Safety authorities. The mandatory licence for ATVs is a Category D licence, the same required for operating any type of motorcycle.
Don’t forget to research and complete the necessary paperwork!
