What animals can I find in the Fuerteventura Zoo?

If you think you already know all the animal kingdom, that's because you have not yet approached this zoo. Here inhabit several species that, for sure, you have never seen before, such as African elephants, gazelles, barbary sheep or antelopes. As the climate of Fuerteventura is characterized for almost no rainfalls over the year it is very similar to that of a desert, so these species live so well there. If you feel like being in the African savannah, but you don't want to go that far, don't hesitate to go there.

One of the most sought-after activities to do in Fuerteventura are camel rides. If you also want to show off in front of your friends that you have ridden on a camel, you can do it in this zoo. During high season, it is very difficult to find a day when you can book a place to ride with them, but in this enclosure this won’t happen.

Of course, here you can also find birds of prey and the most famous bird of the Canary Islands, the parrot. On the top of the botanical garden, you can watch them fly freely in the different exhibitions that are performed with them and see how their wings widen as they glide through the sky freely. A highly recommended experience if you want to learn about the different types of birds around the world.

For younger children there is a space designed for them, where they can see up close the different types of animals that inhabit a farm. Among them, they will be able to see donkeys, ponies and rabbits up close and feed them. Certainly, this first contact is ideal for the kids to enjoy these animals for several hours.

When is the best time of the year to go to the Fuerteventura Zoo?

The best thing about the Canary Islands is that they live in an eternal spring. Their winters are not so cold and in the summer months do not reach very high temperatures as it in other parts of our country. For this reason, you can enjoy this zoo every day of the year.

However, we recommend you not to go in the spring or winter months because that is when many animals begin to hibernate. If you go in December and see that there are no bats, dormouse or crocodiles don’t be surprised, because that is when they take refuge and remain immobile to cope with these winter months.

If you want to come with the kids, and you don’t want them to be overwhelmed with many people around them, although summer is the perfect time to go with them because they do not have school, in the months of September and October they will surely enjoy the experience even more. This period is perfect to enjoy an outdoor activity in Fuerteventura, the skies are clear and there are not many tourists, so it is ideal if you are looking to organize a relaxing family plan.

Now that you have all the information you need about the best zoo in Fuerteventura, you can't miss the chance to visit it. Don’t wait any longer and organize a suitable plan for the whole family!
