Summary Cross-Country Skiing

Cross-country skiing is a type of skiing that emerged in the Nordic countries as a way of moving in places where the ground is covered for much of the year by snow or ice. From there it spread to other countries as a way of off-piste skiing that allows you to do very healthy exercise and enjoy the sensation of traveling through snowy landscapes alone. The San Isidro Spanish Cross-Country Ski School offers you the possibility of learning and practicing this modality on the slopes of this Leonese resort that is located just one hour by car from the city of León.

You can book group courses or, if you prefer, individual classes. Whatever your option, you will always have qualified and highly experienced professional instructors who will put all their effort into helping you learn this sport that more and more people are practicing. And of course, you don't have to have your own material since you can rent what you need.

Summary Skiing

The Spanish San Isdro Ski School has been teaching skiing classes for more than 30 years, and later also snowboarding, on the slopes of the San Isidro Station, in the province of León. Today it has a staff of more than 68 qualified teachers who are certified by AEPEDI (Spanish Association of Winter Sports Teachers and Coaches) and ISIA (International Association of Ski Teachers).

You can hireboth group classes and private classes. Group classes are already scheduled, with classes lasting 3 hours a day from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. or from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the afternoons and a total duration of 12 hours over several days . Private classes can logically be contracted with the schedule that best suits the students. You can teach both skiing (including alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and telemark skiing) and snowboarding, regardless of your level or previous experience.

If you don't have ski or snowboard equipment you don't have to worry either because you have an equipment rental service, where you will find boards and skis from the leading brands and in very good condition.

Summary Snowboarding

San Isidro Snowboard Spanish School has been teaching this sport for more than 30 years in the Leonese resort of San Isidro. It offers courses of different levels, so that everyone can learn:

- Level 1. I want to learn: This is the basic level designed for people who have decided to snowboard but have never gotten on a board before. It is a very basic course where all the initial knowledge is taught, from putting on your boots and bindings to getting on the chairlift, to gradually progress.

- Level 2. Slide and skid brake: Now you can try on the board and start your first descents. You will learn to slide and brake by skidding, so that at all times you can have control of your descent and can brake if you think you are gaining too much speed.

- Level 3. Turning to both sides on easy slopes: You already know how to start and stop, so all you have to do is learn to turn in one direction or another so that you can handle the board as you want . At first you will only go down easy slopes so that you can learn and practice turning without fear of falling or the slope being excessive.

- Level 4: Turning to both sides on any track: If you already know how to turn on easy tracks, it is time to learn how to do it on any track, easy or difficult. It is true that the red and black slopes are more complicated than the green or blue ones, but if you have good control of the board they should not be scary at all.

- Level 5. Freestyle and freeride: At this level it is understood that you are already an expert at going down the slopes with your board, and what you are looking for is to go further by learning to go off-piste or to do jumps and tricks.

Summary Snowshoeing

Do you know that in addition to skiing on the slopes you can also explore them on foot? You will thus enjoy a wonderful walk through the snowy countryside while doing a very healthy exercise. Snowshoes allow you to walk through the snow without sinking or getting tired. With the San Isidro Spanish Snowshoe School you can enjoy this unique experience in the Leonese ski resort of San Isidro.

The snowshoeing activity proposed by San Isidro consists of routes and walks along the slopes and their surroundings accompanied by professional and qualified guides from the school. They are the ones who ensure that the activity is safe at all times, indicating the path to follow and advising all participants on where and how to walk. Keep in mind that snowshoeing is similar to normal walking, but not the same. This means that a special technique is required and that some aspects must be taken into account. Therefore, at the beginning of the walk there will be a brief theoretical session in which the instructor will explain what all the material used is and how it works. Precisely this necessary material is provided by the company to clients, so that they only have to worry about bringing warm clothing.
