Bodega Picos de Cabariezo

In the heart of the Liébana Valley, you will find the Picos de Cabariezo Winery, a company created in 2000 with the intention of recovering wine tourism in this area of Cabezón de Liébana. It is a pioneer winery and distillery in Cantabria, winner in 2017 of the National Fecoes award for best winery-distillery. Here you can find on the slope of the Morillas mountain an immense vineyard made up of mencía, godello and syrah strains; The first being the predominant native grape of this area and exclusive throughout the world.

Their largest production is red wine, although they also produce white wine. These are signature wines, but they do not stand out only for this, but they also have a total of 6 typical copper alquitares, where thanks to their independent temperature control and its slow and exhaustive care, achieve a total of 1 liter per hour. The procedure consists of distilling the skins that come from winemaking. When the wine has fermented, it is devatted and the alcohols evaporate in the boiler, causing them to rise through the cap and thus condense in the glass and flow slowly.
