Summary Canoeing
The Ahoy Centre, a great charity based in Deptford, offers learn to row courses for those that are wanting to get started on this great team sport.
As The Ahoy Centre is also a charity, they are also always after people who would like to compete in their races to raise money for the work that they do. The races that you can compete in are;
- The Meridian Pull – A 8.5 mile race past the Houses of Parliament and under Tower Bridge, this a challenging but fun row. All equipment needed can be provided, and training is also available if you need it.
- Great River Race – Competing with teams from all over Europe, this is a great race to compete in. If you fundraise for The Ahoy Centre, they will provide you with the equipment needed, as well as any training needed.
- Cross Channel Row – Row from Dover to Calais and raise money for The Ahoy Centre. This is a great experience and all levels of skill are welcome to take part. 10 training sessions are given to you before the big day.

The Ahoy Centre, a great charity based in Deptford, offers RYA power boating qualifications. The courses on offer are:
- RYA Powerboat Level 1 – A good introduction to powerboating, this course covers launching and recovering techniques, as well as using safety equipment and many other basic skills needed for you to get started.
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 – This two day course is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence and includes learning skills like man overboard recovery, high speed manoeuvres and more.

- RYA Basic Skills (Level 2) – A great course for you to build on your skills from level 1. Learn capsize recovery, launching, essential safety knowledge and more.
- RYA Better Sailing (Level 3) – Introduces new skills, and makes you more confident in the skills you already have.
- RYA Day Sailing – Learn how to plan and complete a cruise and learn how to make good decisions.
The Ahoy Centre also offers lessons for young people who would like to start learning how to sail.
- RYA Youth Scheme Stage 1 – A great way for young people to experience this sport for the first time.
- RYA Youth Scheme Stage 2 – Sharpens the sailing skills that young people would have learnt in the last course.
- RYA Youth Scheme Stage 3 – By the end of this course, the people doing it should be able to sail by themselves, and feel confident doing so.
- RYA Youth Scheme Stage 4 – Builds on the skills learn in the previous 3 courses.
