El Contramaestre Sailing School opens its doors for the first time on July 1, 2007, to meet the demand for nautical activities such as sailing, windsurfing and canoeing, of which there was a large lack in this municipality.

Our intention is from the beginning to meet this demand, but not only during the summer months, but to facilitate their learning and subsequent practice throughout the year.

The school is located in the facilities of the Mazarrón regatta club, located east at the head of La Cebada in the port of Mazarrón. We have a boat docking area of about 800 square meters that provides ample space for a series of boats adapted to almost all educational and recreational needs.

At El Contramaestre Vela Sailing School we are a company that offers complete sailing courses so that you can learn everything related to this modality.

Our courses vary depending on the user's level of experience:

• Initiation 1: course where the student will learn all the basics of this sport, such as how to handle the sail, the rules, how to balance the boat, how to orient the sail and many other things. li>

• Initiation 2: in this course you will learn to stop the boat in the open sea, to make tacks, to complete routes and to master the course of the boat.

• Improvement 1: at this level the student already has a little experience and can complete the exercises with ease, in this course the knowledge already acquired will be established and we will strengthen the security concepts so that the student completes the activity without any risk.

• Improvement 2: this last level a final test will be carried out where you will perform everything you have learned to verify that the learning has been completed.

At El Contramaestre Windsurf Sailing School there are 2 types of initiation courses, yellow and orange. In the first one, we start from scratch, that is, the student knows nothing about sailing. In the case of orange it is the following initiation course. Once the first one has been passed, the student wants to continue learning until he or she achieves skills and knowledge that give him or her sufficient autonomy.

You can start directly at the orange level after passing a navigation test. You can also access it with demonstrable experience.

These types of courses are intended for children from 8 years old and adults. Although the course syllabus is the same, the development of the sessions is different for children or adults. Therefore children and adults go in different groups. You can go in the same group in the case, for example, of a family. (We consider adults for teaching purposes from 15 years old).

The course contract includes everything necessary:

• Civil liability insurance
• Accident insurance.

• Personal equipment: Life jacket.
