10 things to do in Lanzarote

Lanzarote has the most varied offering of leisure activities on an island with just 800 km2. To stroll through its natural settings and almost virgin beaches will transport you to another planet. Its volcanic origin confers to the island several and completely different to everything you have seen before and its ecological values make the island one of the most important places declared by the biosphere reserve by UNESCO. These are some of the things you can do to enjoy it:

1. Hiking in the Timanfaya National Park.



Walk over solidified lava that the volcano expelled more than two centuries ago and watch closely the craters and tunnels that you can appreciate still today. You will go from the Yaiza location, the one that greatly belongs to this territory that has marked the total evolution of the Lanzarote island.

2. Ride a camel in Uga.



If there is something that goes great with these Canary sights are the camels and dromedary routes. On a double saddle, or only for you, will cross the southern part of the island whilst watching its houses with the white murals in contrast with the gray floors formed by the volcanic lava. On the way to La Geria, you will find the vineyards which the local wine production base on.

3. Navigate with a transparent kayak in the Blanca Beach.



Paddle through the Atlantic throughout one of the most popular places for tourism with a schedule that you can’t miss. You’ll see it with completely transparent watercraft, watching the sea floor whilst on the route. You will feel like floating in the water with an imaginary kayak inside the Natural Monument of Los Ajaches.

4. Go snorkeling in the Papagayo coast.



Put on the scuba diving mask to go peeping underwater on a beach that is a real paradise, with golden sand and turquoise water. Seize the activity to take a look and observe the small coves that surround you, between El Pozo and Congrio cove, where incredible cliffs predominate.

5. Try to escape from a madhouse in Arrecife.



Show that 1 hour is enough for you and surpass the challenge of abandoning a psychiatric hospital. In this escapism game, you will need to discover what is happening, based on all the hints you will find in the room. Remember that any of them will be visible to the naked eye, so you will need to apply your ingenuity.

6. Reach the La Graciosa island with a catamaran.



Book a space in the ferry that departs from the Órzola port, that goes directly to this enchanting island, where a guided tour through Caleta del Sebo will be waiting for you. Seize the trail to sunbathe on deck, and contemplate the Chinijo Archipelago islets or the peculiar Yellow Mountain at the horizon.

7. Drive a buggy up to Calero Port.



Cross the trails of the central and southern part of Lanzarote with a buggy tour with sea views that also passes through the Quemada Beach. Stay with the curious image of the black sand cut by the ocean and calmly enjoy one of the areas with less influx of people.

8. Overfly the Famara Cove with a paraglide.



From the air contemplate the coasts of Teguise from a marvelous point to take-off and give yourself a whim of knowing how is the Atlantic from dozens of meters in height. Taking a look under your feet, you will discover that the time hasn’t even passed on this traditional small village, that a lot of the streets are not even asphalted.

9. Carry out a Segway route up to the Pechiguera Lighthouse.



Get up to the place that indicates the division in the sea between Lanzarote and the Fuerteventura island with a comfortable tour that takes place through sidewalks and pedestrian streets. You will find it in the southern part, in the municipality of Yaiza, signaling the famous strait known as La Bocayna.

10. Parascending in the Carmen Port.



Fly at 400 meters from the sea with a parasail dragged by a motorboat. From this distance, you will have a wide panoramic with places like the coast, Grande and Matagorda beaches without doing almost anything that let you go.
