It's the perfect opportunity to unload all you've got inside you with a freefall jump over the best landscapes in the north of the UK. Are you up for it?

First of all, it's not everywhere you can skydive, so we've put together a list of the best places to do this activity;

Where to skydive in Scotland?

• Perth and Kinross. If you were thinking of skydiving near Glasgow, this Scottish council is your perfect choice. Here you can find three skydiving destinations with the best views of the Scottish mountains:

- Crieff. This main town in Strathearn is home to one of the best skydiving schools in the country. Here you can not only experience your first tandem skydive, but you can also take your first steps into the world of skydiving with the courses on offer to become a professional. It's also in a privileged location on the southern edge of the Scottish mountains, so imagine flying over Scotland's beautiful mountains in a light aircraft and then enjoying an adrenaline-fuelled drop.

- Errol. Located in north-central Scotland and an hour from Edinburgh, it's one of the country's best-known skydiving spots. Jumping into the void overlooking the River Tay is a unique experience, as the panoramic views you see during the flight in a light aircraft until landing is exceptional.

- Auchterarder. This is the closest town to the north of Glasgow and the best choice for those who don't want to stray too far from the city for this adrenaline-fuelled experience.

• Fife. Located between the Firth of Tay and the Firth of Forth, it allows you to take your tandem skydive in the town of Glenrothes. Just an hour from Edinburgh and Dundee, it's a popular choice for people from Scotland's capital. The views from your pre-flight are of Scotland's stunning lochs and meadows, which will take your breath away during the minutes you spend in the air.

We know that parachute jumping is not an activity for everyone. It's only for the brave. That's why many doubts arise before taking the first step toward the jump:

Minimum age

In Scotland, as in almost all countries where skydiving is practised, the minimum age to participate in skydiving is 16 years, with signed parental or legal guardian permission.

Weight limits

It will always depend on the company you are going to do your tandem jump with, but in general, they require women to weigh between 14-15 stones and men to weigh between 16-17 stones. Companies usually weigh every customer before jumping. Although this is one of the essential requirements to be able to skydive, another important aspect to consider is to be in good physical shape, not be pregnant, and not suffer from cardiovascular diseases.

How long this activity last?

Skydiving is divided into different processes. First, you will spend about 30 minutes with your assigned instructor getting ready with the necessary materials and receiving a briefing on safety rules and how to position yourself during the jump. Then you will spend about 20 minutes flying in a light aircraft until you reach the point from where you will jump. The jump itself, consists of up to 1 minute of freefall (depending on the height of your jump) and then 5 to 7 minutes of flying with the parachute open until you land. It's an experience of approximately 1 hour and a half.

What should I wear during a skydiving jump?

You don't have to worry about the equipment. Companies in Scotland usually provide everything you need, such as harnesses, helmets and parachutes. But you should be aware that you will need suitable clothing for a successful skydive when jumping from heights. You can choose your most comfortable clothing, footwear, gloves and a fleece or winter coat. Everything will be under control!

Is indoor skydiving available in this region?

This experience is always weather dependent, and it's no news that the north of Scotland is not blessed with good weather. So if you can't find a place near you to make your first skydive, you can experience it in an indoor skydiving facility, also known as a wind tunnel. This way, you can experience what it's like to free fall inside a tunnel accompanied by professionals as if it were a real jump. This option is also suitable for the youngest members of the family, making it a good choice for a day of family activities.
