Welcome to Merlutha Sailing! We are a Surrey based RYA Training Centre. We offer Day Skipper Theory courses given by a highly experienced Commercial Yachtmaster and RYA shorebased instructor. All of our courses are given on weekday evenings in a relaxed and friendly environment over the course of 22 weeks.
Our courses touch on the following subjects:

• The basics of seamanship
• The essentials of coastal navigation and pilotage
• Chartwork
• Electronic charts
• Position fixing
• Plotting a course to steer
• Weather forecasting and meteorology
• Tides
• Collision regulations
• Construction, parts and equipment of a cruising boat
• Emergency and safety procedures including distress calls, use of flares, safety harnesses, lifejackets and life rafts

We also offer students the opportunity to gain more experience and practice aboard the instructor´s Colvic Victor 35 masthead sloop and bespoke and refresher courses can also be provided. We can accommodate all ages and individuals to groups of up to 6.
