Oakwood Youth Challenge

As well as providing a fantastic range of adventurous pursuits, Oakwood Youth Challenge Horse Riding provides a fully appointed stable of well trained horses for experiences for riders of all ages and abilities.

We are a British Horse Society approved riding centre, staffed by a team of experienced and qualified BHS riding instructors. We provide riding experiences for riders of all ages, from 5 years old and up, up to those who already are at a more advanced level and want to learn how to work with these beautiful animals in dressage and show jumping.

You will learn how to care for the horse as well as how to stay atop it with sessions that include private and group sessions.

At all times you will be supervised and led by fully qualified climbing instructors who will provide comprehensive instruction so that you can gain the knowledge and techniques you will need to conquer this challenge.

Archery requires technique, concentration and accuracy. We will provide easy to draw bows, modern equipment and protective gear so that everyone can enjoy this fun sport. All of our instructors are qualified through the Grand National Archery Association, and more than capable of providing fun and informative experiences. Once you have a grasp on hitting the target consistently, you will finish your time with us with a fun and friendly archery competition where you will get a chance to unleash your inner Robin Hood.

Our location is perfect for this exciting off road sport, we have a series of mountain biking trails perfect for riders of all levels of experience. Our fully qualified mountain biking instructors will provide all of the safety gear and equipment you need to enjoy this great sport as well as comprehensive instruction into off road techniques so you can enjoy riding through the beautiful Swinley Forest, no matter if this is your first time or you are looking to improve on the skills you already have.

Take on our purpose built abseil facility and discover a real personal challenge that is a lot of fun at the same time at Oakwood Youth Challenge Abseiling.

We give you the perfect opportunity to put your courage to the test with our 40 foot  (12 metre) abseiling wall. Step off the ledge and control your descent down, conquering gravity with a series of lines, pulley systems and a firm harness as your fully qualified instructor and friends encourage you. We will teach you the correct abseiling techniques as well as how to use the high quality gear we employ, all you need to do is not look down!

Oakwood Youth Challenge Canopy is a high ropes course is built high above your head, consisting of a great range of challenges that will put you to the ultimate test.

Up 40 feet in the air, you will take on a range of obstacles forming a gauntlet that will put your courage to the test. Everyone 8 years old and up can take on this course under the direct supervision of our fully qualified instructors. You will be harnessed into a pulley system running along the course so that if you slip on the challenges that will see you balancing, charging and leaping across beams of wood, rope bridges and trapeze.
