For lovers of mountain bikes , the Matera Adventure association offers the opportunity to participate in bike excursions of varying difficulty.
The main beaten paths on mountain bikes are
- Excursion to the Cave of the Hundred Saints , excursion suitable for everyone that will take you to know the "Sistine Chapel" of Basilicata
- Path to discover the Sassi and the Belvedere , during which you can admire the panorama from a belvedere overlooking the Sassi di Matera
- Excursion by bike and descent to the caves on the canyon of the ravine , suitable for people of medium experience, along a path that starts downhill, then becomes a slightly more challenging but certainly exciting dirt road. li >

With Matera Adventure you can get to know the Matera area on the saddle. The association is in fact involved in promoting equitourism as well as eco-sustainable activities.
Getting to know Basilicata on horseback allows you to respect nature as much as possible, immersing yourself in uncontaminated territories and retracing the same paths that our ancestors traveled, protecting their preservation.
Matera Adventure organizes various excursions with its wonderful Haflinger horses to discover picturesque landscapes, between hills and waterways, along dirt roads and even in the famous canyon della Gravina .
All horseback excursions will be carried out in the company of an expert equestrian guide , who will advise participants on the route with the degree of difficulty that best suits their skills and preparation.
Among the proposed itineraries stand out:
- Excursion to the Cave of the Hundred Saints , the so-called Sistine Chapel of the rock churches
- Horseback excursion to the Silver Lake , a half-day ride in the saddle suitable for everyone, during which you will skirt the canyon, ride along the stream and along the ravine
- On horseback on the Grain Road , an easy route of about 2 hours on the road traveled by the ancient inhabitants of the area who headed towards the "coast"
- Excursion to the Canyon della Gravina , suitable for all those who have a minimum of experience in the saddle, during which you will immerse yourself among a number of fruit trees in the silence of nature not far from Matera

How to get there?
The starting point of the MTB tours is in the heart of Matera. Easily reachable on foot just 5 minutes from the Matera Sud FAL train station or by car take exit 2 on the SS7 and go down Via Lanera towards the city center right at the Castle.
