In the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci by mountain bike: this is the original proposal of Leonardo da Vinci Bike Tour , the group of qualified guides from the National MTB Academy which organizes a wide range of itineraries in the heart of Tuscany , among the protected areas that rise on the edges of Montalbano .
The locality of Vinci is in fact particularly interesting, as well as for its considerable historical importance, also for the great natural riches of the protected area in which it is inserted, Montalbano, the large area enclosed between the localities of Capraia, Limite and Serravalle.
The Tour del Genius introduces you to this typically Tuscan hilly landscape characterized by grape and olive cultivation, with terraced vineyards and chestnut woods.
The mountain bike excursions move along the cycle paths which arose within the ancient hunting reserve and connect the various Tuscan towns completely incorporated in this natural setting.
There are many archaeological sites immersed in the extensive woods of the protected area, among the centuries-old holm oaks.
Riding our mountain bikes we will also pass by the Vitruvian Man , a monument erected in honor of the great protagonist of Vincentian history in the central square of the town, we will move to admire Vinci from a panoramic area at the Poggio di Marradino .
From here, we will move to Anchiano to visit the house where Leonardo was born (the visit inside the house is on request) and to Faltognano whose extraordinary view offers a clear sky the possibility of looking up to Livorno and, sometimes, to the Isola della Gorgona .
We will climb Montalbano up to La Cupola , at an altitude of 634 meters, and here too you can enjoy a splendid view over the Florentine valley of Prato , enclosed between the ridges of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
