Resumen de la empresa
We are responsible for the management of the Integrated Cultural Heritage, the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Immovable Cultural Assets, that is, the architectural and archaeological heritage of Portugal.
We work on three axes:
- Conservation, valorization and dissemination of architectural, archaeological, movable and intangible Cultural Heritage.
- Direct management of the opening to the public of monuments and archaeological sites.
- Cooperation in the areas of regulation, supervision, scientific research and educational training, with public, private, national and international entities.
Based on these three axes we organize meetings and educational actions with different institutions: municipalities, schools and universities.
We also manage a total of 21 monuments including monasteries, convents, churches, chapels, hermitages, archaeological sites, rock art and civil and military architecture. In addition to managing 7 public libraries distributed in Porto and Lisbon and 9 documentary archives located in Porto, Lisbon, Braga and Marco de Canaveses.
Within our heritage, UNESCO has granted Portugal the recognition of Material Heritage of Humanity to 17 sites.
