What to see in Guadalajara?

• Charreria Tour and Show: You cannot miss the opportunity to visit the famous Lienzo Charro, where you will get to know this Mexican sport in depth. This tour lasts approximately 4 hours, and you will usually find options with transportation from your hotel, as well as a complimentary drink. Enjoy the spectacle that the charros will surely give you with their beautiful horses, part of the cattle and the rope with which they will dance to the rhythm of a fun Mexican song. At the end of the show, you will be able to ride one of the horses and take home a great photographic souvenir. Listen attentively to the story that the guides will have to tell you.

• Walk through the historic centre of Guadalajara: If you don't have much time or want a quick activity to explore the most significant parts of the capital's centre, the 2-hour city tours are the perfect option. This guided tour usually starts at the Plaza de Armas, where you will walk around the surrounding areas. You will then visit places like the Guadalajara Cathedral, the Rotonda de los Jaliscienses Ilustres where you will find the most important historical figures of the state. You will also visit the Plaza Tapatía and the Degollado Theatre, not forgetting the visit to the Plaza de los Mariachis. This plan is also ideal if you are travelling with children, as it is a short tour but with intriguing and fun visits.

• Mural art and urban art tours: For these unique tours, we advise you to reserve at least half a day of your time, especially if you are an art lover and enjoy admiring works of art and deciphering their meaning. If you wish to appreciate large and detailed murals, the guided tours usually make stops at places such as the Guadalajara Cathedral, the Government Palace and the Cultural Institute. The latter two house murals by the renowned José Clemente Orozco. As for urban art, you can take tours that allow you to visit the area of the Barrio Americana. Here, a guide will show you the walls that have been used to express artistic graffiti and colourful works.

• Street Food Tour: You can't leave Guadalajara without trying the traditional tortas ahogadas, the birria or a hot menudo, and for that, there are half-day tours to restaurants and local markets. You'll have to come with an empty belly because you will be tempted to try everything. Take your palate on a flavour trip and get to know the flavours of Tapatío in the company of an expert who can take you to the best places, including the Mercado Corona. If you have a little more budget, you can also go to the most select restaurants with renowned chefs, where Jalisco's food is given a gourmet touch.

• Travel from Guadalajara to the nearest Magical Towns: If you have some free time, select a tour in which you can leave from the city to visit the most picturesque towns of Jalisco, among them you can choose Tlaquepaque, located only 15 minutes away from Guadalajara and where you can observe local traditions such as pottery, a rustic atmosphere and mariachi music in any area you visit. Another town you could also visit is Tequila, where the magic happens to produce the world's most famous Mexican alcoholic beverage. It is worth noting that visits to these Pueblos Mágicos are immensely popular thanks to their proximity to the capital. So if you have the opportunity, take a little getaway to Guadalajara.
