Company Overview

The Catacombs of San Callisto are an essential stop if you are visiting the Capital to discover its wonders!

Along the very famous Via Appia, on the right, shortly after the Quo Vadis church, there are some of the largest and most important catacombs in Rome: in the 2nd century AD, they form part of a large cemetery complex, covering approximately 15 hectares of land, and branch out through 20 km long tunnels.

In the 3rd century, they represented the official cemetery of the Church of Rome and were the place where one and a half million Christians were buried, including many husbands and popes.

The Catacombs of San Callisto, so called because Pope Zephyrinus appointed the deacon San Callisto as the first administrator of the cemetery, are today open to the public and the historical-artistic offer they offer is of great value only for the faithful.

There are numerous possible routes: certainly The Crypt of the Popes is the most important and sacred place, also called the Small Vatican, because 9 people were buried there popes and probably 8 dignitaries of the Church of the 3rd century.

In short, the mysterious place rich in history, which we recommend you visit soon! This is why we are waiting for you in Rome, at the Catacombs of San Callisto!
