York Gliding Centre

Welcome to York Gliding Centre! 

We are a friendly club situated at Rufforth airfield just outside the beautiful and historic city of York.

We welcome new members, including beginners. If you want to come along and try gliding for the first time, join us for one of our trial lessons. We also offer flying lessons if you would like to continue learning, eventually flying solo, and for the experienced glider pilot we can offer you an excellent base for exploring the Pennine wave.

We have a good range of gliders for all levels. We have two K13 aircrafts for basic training and a Twin III Acro and high-performance DG505 for more advanced training. For cross-country flying and soaring, we also have an Astir.

Look at our experiences!;

• Trial Lessons: You will be accompanied by a certified instructor pilot and during the flight, the instructor will demonstrate how to control the glider!
• Holiday Courses: During the summer season, we take up to six students to take the advanced tuition. 
• Continuation Training
