If you want to stay in the air longer without going to the long flight, the thermal flight plus gives you 30 to 35 minutes of flight time. Allow around 1 hour 15 minutes to be there, including the meeting at the Chapelle Sainte-Luce, the walk up to takeoff and the briefing.
This extra time is used to climb higher when conditions permit, then to move away a little from takeoff to discover the surroundings of Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey and the relief of the Pre-Alps of the Côte d'Azur. The flight is done in the middle of the day between late morning and mid-afternoon, because you need well-established thermals to last half an hour in the air.
The height gained can also leave room for a little aerobatics. It is offered but never programmed in advance: Jean-Vincent Ducrocq only offers it at your request and only if your stomach agrees, if the aerology allows it and if there is enough height remaining, always in compliance with the recommendations of the sail manufacturer. It is reserved for passengers weighing 40 to 80 kg.
Note: it is around 10°C cooler in flight than on the ground due to speed and altitude, and you feel it more over half an hour. Outside of July and August, we recommend hiking clothing suited to the current weather with warm clothing and gloves in spring and fall. In summer, a light windbreaker and sunglasses will suffice along with sunscreen, a cap and water. The thermal plus flight is reserved for passengers weighing less than 90 kg.
