A horseback ride on the beach is a bucket list experience, and ticking it off in the beauty of Scotland’s Isle of Lewis makes it a life changing one. The beach of Traigh Mhòr is known as one of the best locations in the UK for this kind of ride.
Best of all, we are able to take novice riders down to the beach from our riding centre just above the sands, in the village of North Tolsta. We will assess participants before setting off and decide whether a lead rein ride is best or whether we can all get into the saddle.
From the riding centre, it’s a short ride to the beach, then we’ll spend the majority of the 1 hour 15 minute session on the sand, feeling the spray of the breakers and taking in the views.
We provide riding hats to all participants. Children over 5 years old are welcome and we have a weight limit, for most of our horses at 13 stone, but one horse can carry individuals of up to 16 stone.
