We leave from San Cristóbal de las Casas, the appointment is at your hotel at 9:00 am to go to the stables where you will meet your travel companion, your horse. We will travel through pine forests and corn fields until we reach the community of San Juan Chamula, we will be here for an hour and a half to get to know and discover this Tzotzil community and visit its Church. Our guide will talk to you about their religion, traditions, shamanism and the Mayan cosmogony. A very interesting explanation to understand the customs of this community.
From here we will depart with an approximately 2-hour walk to the town of Zinacantán, arriving at the place we will visit the house of a local family where we will learn about the work that Zinacanteco women do with The backstrap loom, with embroidery and its work with traditional cuisine will give us a taste of the typical drink of the place called pox and a delicious ritual party meal, this will allow you to spend time with the family and learn more about their customs. We will continue the tour visiting the chapel of the authorities and the town church.
We recommend that you wear clothing appropriate to the climate of the region, comfortable shoes for long walks, a cap or hat, a light backpack, water, ecological mosquito repellent and of course... your camera!
