Hiking to the Chacorche Ravine in Candelaria

Why not enjoy the natural grandeur that the island of Tenerife offers us with a hiking route?

We propose this route to the Chacorche ravine that we will undertake in the best way, hiking. The list of what we will need will be short, note: 6 adventurous friends or family (we need a minimum of 7 people), hiking boots, comfortable clothing and something to drink and eat so we don't get tired. Here, up to four galleries and also a water well await us. And thanks to this ravine, during the last century, groundwater could be captured and channeled, constituting an important source of water. That is why the Río-Portezuelo and Araya canals were built.

Additionally, with this hiking route, we will see steep slopes, rock formations and original landscapes of the island. It will be a unique way to get to know the Canarian landscapes while delighting all your senses immersed in nature.

We will start from Plaza de Ajoreña, in the town of Igueste de Candelaria, located in the Tenerfean municipality of Candelaria. We will go towards Los Revolcaderos street until we reach the first part of the path that is along a dirt track, here we will find the Pozo de Chacorcheand the Canal de Araya. From here we will see a detour along the slope on the right that we will take.

Once we have taken this detour, we will go up some stairs carved in red rough and as we pass along these paths where we will join, we will find wild and leafy vegetation, but we must warn you, we will be entering a part of the ravine with the most irregular, so we will have to be careful. Even so, the landscape that we will find will be worth it, since we will see incredible vegetation, such as tabaiba bushes, which reach a surprising 4 meters in height. You read correctly, a 4 meter bush.

We will continue hiking until suddenly we find ourselves immersed in the Corona Forestal Natural Park, a protected natural space where the Canarian pine reigns. We will continue through these groves surrounded by colossal pine trees until we reach the Chacorche Gallery in an environment adorned by flowers such as the May flower, and this is where our culminates.
