Deal overview
This November long weekend we are going to visit the Sierra de la Demanda, a unique natural space in La Rioja, which is home to such emblematic towns as Ezcaray, San Millán de la Cogolla and Anguiano.
The program covers five days (4 nights) on a half board basis (breakfast and dinner). It consists of three hiking routes and visit to the winery of Juan Carlos Sancha, a benchmark for innovation in the sector. The program also has enough time to rest and/or visit the Monasteries of San Millán, cradle of the language and World Heritage Site.
The accommodation is in a beautiful Rural House, in double rooms, so it is very suitable for couples.
Daily programming:
Friday the 28th: Welcome at the accommodation, time to rest and dinner.
Saturday 29: Interpretive route in the Sierra de la Demanda (3.5 hours). A local guide reveals the natural secrets (flora, fauna, mycology...) of the only Riojan territory with a Cantabrian climate. Free time later to discover Ezcaray and its villages, the most precious Riojan town for its unique architecture and wide gastronomic offer. Dinner at the accommodation.
Sunday 30: San Millán / Anguiano Route:21 Km. 3rd stage of the GR 93. Self-guided, well signposted and with the support of the organization. At kilometer 13, a checkpoint is established for those who wish to return to the accommodation. Once the stage is over and after visiting Anguiano, participants will be transferred to their accommodation.
Monday 31st: San Millán / Ezcaray Route:17 Km. 2nd stage of the GR 93. Self-guided, well signposted and with the support of the organization. At kilometer 9 a checkpoint is established for those who wish to return to the accommodation. After the stage (3 p.m.), pick up in Ezcaray and return to the accommodation. Rest time. Visit to the wineries of Juan Carlos Sancha, explanation of his innovative production process and tasting of his wines. Return to the accommodation point, followed by dinner and rest.
Tuesday 1: Day dedicated to rest and/or visiting the monasteries. The monasteries of Yuso and Suso, with 16 centuries of uninterrupted monastic life, have been declared a world heritage site, for being the cradle of the Spanish language. There are different local trails suitable for discovering the surroundings on foot. (6:00 p.m.) Farewell at the accommodation.
