Deal overview
You need to have hill walking experience and a reasonable fitness level since we will be out in the mountains for 6-8 hours each day. However, no scrambling experience is needed as we will start with the very basics of the sport for you to reach grade 1 after this 2-day course.
We operate this session at Torridon Hills since they provide us with a wide range and variety of routes for scrambling beginners. Groups have a maximum of 4 people to ensure safety and maximize your scrambling experience.
We will start learning about scrambling and hiking equipment as it is essential to have the basics covered before we go into our scrambling adventure together. Movement skills will also be an important topic on this first day; we will discuss it as we are already scrambling! Because the best way to learn to scramble is scrambling!
We will also complete a scrambling grade-1 route during our second day, although this one will be a bit tougher. During this day, we will polish the skills learnt on day one as well as discuss and practice some downclimbing techniques. Finally, we will also learn and practice some critical ropework for emergencies.
After these intense two days, you will be ready to follow all grade-1 scrambling routes in the UK!
