This introductory mountaineering course will teach you orientation and survival. With approximately 35 hours of instruction, you will be able to learn about cartography and orientation with a compass and a map. You will be able to learn about progression on a mountain and about meteorology. In addition to first aid and survival.
In its theoretical part, the course is taken online through a platform. When you register, the instructor will contact you and provide you with the access codes to the virtual classroom.
Among the concepts that will be studied, you will find progression techniques in different terrains. The interpretation of maps and orientation with them without GPS. In addition to the bivouac conditioning and overnight stays, both scheduled and emergency.
You will also study basic survival, weather forecasting and first aid.
Once the theoretical part is completed and approved, you will take the practical part in Muro de Alcoy. Here, you will practice overnight conditioning and cartography practices on the first day.
On the second day, the practical ropeless progression and orienteering class begins. Also classes on basic survival materials and concepts such as hydration and nutrition.
On the last day, the teaching of first aid, orientation and progression continues. Ending with a farewell in a local restaurant.
To take the course, you must bring your own mountaineering equipment. Clothing must be appropriate, providing for all climates of rain, snow and extreme cold as well as sun protection. You need to bring a survival kit so that the instructor can study it and give you advice. A map of the Sierra de Mariola, specifically that of the Tosal publishing house. You will also be required to bring your own compass, pencil and ruler. IF you have a curvimeter you can also take it.
Food and other utensils are not included, so you must provide your own food. The property offers you the use of its refrigerator and microwave but not the kitchen, so you can bring a stove if you wish.
A tarp, a tarpaulin or a double roof for preparing overnight stays. A rope and a knife as well as walking sticks and a tent.
Of course, the backpack with water and to carry the necessary equipment cannot be missing.
