Climbing on the Vía Ignatius of La Pedriza 5 hours

To the northwest of Madrid, in the municipality of Manzanares del Real, we find one of the best places for climbing in the Community of Madrid, the fantastic Pedriza. When we drive closer to this treasure on the outskirts of Madrid, we find a 1,700-meter granite dome that, already on the horizon, tempts us from the distance. This is where our climbing adventure begins, heading to the unique Yelmo dome. He humbly invites us to more or less 5 hours of activity, and we cannot deny him the invitation.

El Yelmo presents several climbing routes on each of its faces, we will face the Via Ignatius of about 130 meters located on its face south. Prepare to walk since it takes 1 hour and a half to reach the base of our granite cliff. Once we reach this beautiful way we expect approximately 1 hour of rock climbing.

The Vía Ignatius equipped with 4 pitches, is one of the easiest routes to climb in El Yelmo even so, our guides will accompany you at all times and will provide all the necessary material so you can enjoy your day of climbing. You will soon discover that the way is easily seen and you will reach the top victorious without any prior experience, to be amazed by the spectacular views that La Pedriza gives us.

A good place to leave the car and start the approach is in El Tranco. Here, next to the famous restaurant "Casa Julián" we will take the Senda de las Carboneras. We will ascend little by little (we are not going to deceive you, it takes a little effort) until we reach the Placas del Tranco. If this approach to the south face of Yelmo is done in autumn, stop to enjoy the colors offered by one of our favorite seasons.

At this point of the approach we have already gained altitude, here we finally arrive at the intersection with La Gran Cañada, where an esplanade of green meadow awaits us. Soon we will see the Via Ignatius waiting for us, free to be climbed. We will put on the material provided by our instructors and following their instructions, we will face the rock.
