Are you passing through Ariègeand looking for the ideal activity for the whole family? Enjoy a half day of caving in the Grotte de Rieufourcant.
The Rieufourcant Cave is rated at a discovery level and does not require any particular technical skills. Some call it an initiation cave because it allows you to discover the basics of caving. It is located in Bélesta, a French commune in Occitanie which is located to the South-East of Fenouillèdes.
The meeting place is therefore at Bélesta, Place de la Mairie. Here you will be welcomed by your instructor who will explain to you how the half-day will go and will equip you properly. You will then take a 10-minute approach walk to arrive at the entrance to the cave.
2 hours of underground exploration are yours to discover the secrets hidden underground, the rooms and galleries , the labyrinths, the minerals, the limestone, the bats, the low passages... You will cover half a kilometer moving in various ways: walking, crawling, climbing...
At the end of your half-day, you will return to the starting point where you will debrief with your guide about this caving activity. Your guide will also explain to you the procedure to follow to collect the photos he took during this activity.
Good to know:
- The minimum age to do this activity is 6 years old and the maximum weight is 115 kilos.
- You must not have any contraindications to the practice of this activity such as heart problems for example.
- For your comfort, we ask you to bring water and something to snack on. It is also recommended to bring covering clothing, a pair of sneakers and a change of clothing.
