Outrigger canoeing has been practised by the people of Tahiti for over 4,000 years. It uses a canoe of unique design, with a long slender body and a parallel support float that sticks out to one side.
We’ve been interested in this sport, which allows you to travel swiftly across the water using fluid paddle strokes, for years, and now we want to share it with you. Join us for a two-hour introductory session to find out what made it so successful in the South Pacific and why we love doing it on the Norfolk Coast.
This session is for two people. We’ll meet you at Horsey beach with two outrigger canoes, paddles and water safety equipment. The itinerary includes a safety and equipment briefing and lots of coaching out on the water.
Although you don’t need previous watersports experience, we will be out on the sea in unfamiliar craft, so we need every participant to be able to swim 100 metres. The person booking must be over 18 years old, but the other can be as young as 16.
