Tour to Rio Lagartos Ek Balam and Pueblo Maya

We crossed the north of the Yucatan Peninsula for three hours to discover a natural paradise, a biosphere known as the "new ecological refuge."

We arrive at theBiosphere in the heart of the Reserve; The boats that await us are piloted by super-expert ecological guides, all trained in the Semarnap and Park courses; 6/7 passengers per boat so everyone can photograph or video record and observe the beauties of the Reserve.

For more than two hours we will meander through ancient mangroves, seeing up close: white and brown pelicans, eaglets, ospreys, herons of many species, white and pink ibis, crocodiles and the unforgettable pink flamingos. We also stayed a while to see the salt flats, 20 kilometers of pink lagoons where, if the weather permits, we can enjoy a refreshing swim.

Lunch in a typical and simple fisherman's restaurant in front of the lagoon that includes shrimp crepes, seasoned fillet, breaded fillet, grilled fillet, fillet stuffed with shrimp, rice, water and soft drink.

Returning we stayed for forty-five minutes visiting the Ruins of Ek Balam, a little secret hidden in the savanna.

Here the archaeologists are still working and every day they are discovering something new that makes it emerge as one of the most important archaeological zones in Yucatan because it is a site different from all those in the Mayan area thanks to its walls, stelae and the "Acropolis " which has an extraordinarily decorated façade with perfectly preserved statues and bas-reliefs.

Before taking the return route, we will go to the Hunuku Mayan Village a small stop in the Hunuku community will give us the opportunity to see and learn about the customs of the Mayans of today who continue to live in the jungle like in the old days.
