Half Day E-Bike Hire at Plaidy Beach

What’s the easiest, fastest and greenest way to enjoy Cornwall?

Riding an e-bike. Equipped with a rechargeable power source, these machines make cycling the most attractive mode of transport for sightseers.

You can rent an e-bike or two - or up to 6 - from us at Plaidy Beach in the coastal town of Looe. We have 2 types available: step-through (like the Dutch design) and mountain bikes.

If you choose to rent from us for half a day, we recommend setting off along the coast to Seaton beach, then following a river inland to the village of Hessenford which has a countryside pub where you can stop for a rest before heading back. This return journey is doable within 3 hours.

We’ll kit you out for your bike ride with a helmet, a bike lock and lights if necessary. We expect you to dress appropriately, avoiding sandals, flip-flops, dresses, etc., but you don’t need any specialist gear. Bring some ID though, as we need this as a deposit.

Are you prepared for the Tour-de-Cornwall?

Enjoy the best part of the country by hiring a bike. And, to give you a really competitive edge, ours are e-bikes which massively increase your performance and range.

Get your hands on one of these for a full day and you can complete our favourite ride - a 24-kilometre route that takes you up the coast, then inland through the Seaton Valley Country Park. You can complete a beautiful circuit of the park which takes in a country pub or two then return to the starting point.

Our rental service is based in Looe, on Plaidy Beach. Full-day hire means seven hours with the bikes, you can spend as much or as little time in the saddle as you want.

We have two styles of e-bike on offer - some that resemble mountain bikes and others that are more like Dutch road bikes - and rent a maximum of 6 to any group. We will supply locks, helmets and lights depending on need. Remember to wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring ID to leave as a deposit!

We help you go further that you would’ve thought possible. How? By offering our e-bikes for hire. An e-bike has an electric motor that keeps you going all day and really makes the difference on uphill stretches.

You can rent a single bike or 6 at a time and keep hold of them for 2 days. We’ll throw in a helmet, locks and lights too, as well as a charger so that you can start the second day at 100%.

We are based in Looe, a charming town with a charming seafront including Plaidy Beach. There are fantastic routes that you can complete from Looe, such as a 24-kilometre circuit through the Seaton Valley Country Park, but you can also take the bikes wherever you want.

Don’t worry if you’ve never used an e-bike before, you’ll pick it up in no time. We will ask for a valid form of identification to be left as a deposit.
