Gruppo Speleologico Bolognese

Gruppo Speleologico Bolognese has its now historic birth back in 1932, by Luigi Fantini a Bolognese speleologist engaged, at the time of its foundation, by more than a year in speleological research around the Bolognese chalk areas.

The following year the G.S.B. officially became part of the CAI.

Already during this first year of the Group's life, the team of explorers discovered and classified 68 cavities, practically exactly half of those discovered in the entire region.

Interest was immediately placed in the Acquafredda/Spipola system, still the most important cavity complex of this type in the European panorama.

The area continues to be, today, an area of great interest and fundamental importance from a speleological point of view and a field of interest and research.
