Company Overview
At the El Pico Surf School we use the Cantabrian town of Santillana del Mar as a base to serve both newcomers to surfing and those who come looking for the best waves each season. From here you can count on our services daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each afternoon.
We usually target 3 of the best coastal areas for maritime conditions for our students. These are La Concha Beach, which is located in Suances, Luaña Beach for which we will travel in a few minutes to Cóbreces, and Los Locos Beach, also in Suances.
For each surf class we have planned a duration of 2 and a half hours. We always lend the material and neoprene to the students who will be attended by federated instructors with the most extensive qualifications in the sector. That's why they can start you off in the most efficient way but also teach you the most complex tricks if you and your board have been traveling companions for years.
To make your learning more comfortable, we recommend our surfcamps that allow you not to have to look for accommodation outside of school. You will stay with us in our new Hostel in Santillana del Mar. It has rooms with private bathrooms and rooms with shared bathrooms. If you choose the surfcamp package you will benefit from a great discount rate. The Hostel is also available if you just want to stay.

At the El Pico Surf School you have the professional option you are looking for with the exclusivity that allows working with small groups in which each student is seen as a unique person with their own needs.
We are qualified to address all levels because our technicians have the highest recognized qualifications. For this reason, we can teach you from scratch or make you evolve with 2 and a half hour lessons with a clear organization that helps the student establish an efficient routine. So we first go through the theoretical part and warm up before entering the water. Our passage through the sea is recorded to later correct any deficiencies that we show. Tell us what level of these you are at and we will start:
- Initiation: with which you will go from absolute ignorance to having some autonomy. You will catch waves without assistance, stand up properly, and be knowledgeable about your surroundings.
- Intermediate: you will know even more about the environment composed of the sea and the waves to be able to take advantage of each circumstance. We will improve all technical aspects.
- Advanced: here we will look for those turns and speed changes of the surfers who have the most extensive knowledge in the practice.
Summary Surfing Camps
The surfcamps at the El Pico Surf School aim to offer you a complete surfing experience. These types of complexes allow you to be housed in an environment in which we all have the same interests living in relation to the waves since we woke up.
We will be inside the Santillana del Mar Campground where we will have the opportunity to visit one of the medieval towns that stand out the most in this region. This allows us to reach the main beaches where we surf in a few minutes using the car. We do not have a fixed one, but we will decide on the most suitable one each day.
In general we will sleep in bungalows for a maximum of 5 people that are distributed in two rooms. They are equipped with bunk beds, have a complete bathroom, a common dining room and a terrace with a porch. Breakfasts are always included in your package and we take care of taking you, with the material, to the place of the surf lessons until we fill the 7 seats of our transport.
When we have finished the lessons at sea we will lend you the material, whenever it is available, so that you can continue practicing without a monitor.
