Where to hire a boat in Sardinia?

• Southern part of the island:
- In the Gulf of Cagliari, you can rent a sailboat with cabins, a bathroom, and a tender that can accommodate a maximum of 6 passengers (possibly even alone if you have a nautical license). Alternatively, a cruising yacht can accommodate 8-10 people, ideal for a family or a group of friends, and has GPS, Autopilot, and a tender. If you do not own a nautical licence, you will need a skipper. The beautiful beach of Campulongu is a recommended excursion for those sailing from Cagliari. Located in the famous tourist resort of Villasimius, it is in the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara. We also recommend the week-long sailing trip, which allows you to reach Costa Rei, Carloforte (San Pietro Island), to admire the beautiful sunset at La Caletta.

• Northern region: Without question, the north side has the most options.
- Costa Paradiso: If you want to sail from the Costa Paradiso, you may rent a 40 HP boat at Vignola. It can carry up to four people. You can sail with complete liberty, snorkel, and visit the Li Cossi beach or the bays of Porto Leccio, natural wonders of the Costa Paradiso, without the need for a skipper.

- Sailing from Cannigione, Palau, or La Maddalena, in the heart of the Costa Smeralda, you may spend a day, a weekend, or even a week sailing throughout the entire La Maddalena archipelago. Here, you can rent a catamaran and snorkel or scuba dive on the high seas to enjoy the spectacular underwater flora and fauna of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park.

- On the Costa Smeralda, in Poltu Quatu, you can hire a magnificent and lavish boat and anchor it alongside a VIP's yacht to experience luxury and elegance. Youngsters can opt for dinghy training or sailing boats. For the older crowd, a sailing trip to strengthen bonds with coworkers (teambuilding) is ideal.

- For just 1½ hours, you can book a private boat - the Robalo model, with a skipper in Golfo Aranci, a little town near Olbia. On board, you can have a delightful aperitif based on local food and wine. You can also see gorgeous creatures like dolphins against the backdrop of the setting sun with this choice.

- In the extreme north, in the Asinara National Park in Stintino, you may hire a spectacular catamaran, complete with a skipper or entire crew, to enjoy celebrations like New Year's Eve, a fun weekend, or have a quiet day. Alternatively, classes are held on the 'Optimist', a small sailing boat that allows you to learn the basics in total safety, are available for the younger crowd.

• Eastern Sardinia:
In San Teodoro, you'll find a fleet of inflatable boats that can accommodate up to 8 people (and are also available for hire without a license). San Teodoro dinghy excursions are great because you can swiftly reach the majestic granite promontory of Capo Coda Cavallo, a protected marine area.

In the Gulf of Orosei, more precisely in Dorgali, you can rent a 5-metre 40-horsepower dinghy, which can also be driven without a licence. With the option of setting sail from Cala Gonone, you may enjoy a boat journey with your loved ones while taking in the breathtaking scenery of the Gulf of Orosei and Gennargentu National Park.

Whether you want to rent a sailing boat, a catamaran, a yacht, or a dinghy, the boat rental centres in Sardinia can accommodate you. You can also choose to sail in a crewed sailing boat or rent a yacht with a skipper; however, people without a license can rent a small dinghy. What are you waiting for?
