Querétaro hot air ballooning has become a popular hobby for people of all ages in Mexico. It is a magnificent way to have an incredible experience and witness the most diverse sights from a unique perspective owing to the gentle wind.

The shape created when the fabric bag is filled with the gas generated by the propagated fire is known as a 'balloon'. The course commonly taken by the aircraft varies with the direction of the wind, as it does not have a motor.

If you live in or visit the colonial State of Querétaro, you will be able to find countless offers of Hot Air Balloon excursions. The town is located only 30 minutes away from the state and 90 minutes from Mexico City, so it won't be too difficult for you to get around.

When to take a hot air balloon tour in Querétaro?

Thanks to the mild climate, there are usually flights almost every day in Querétaro, but due to the high demand, we suggest you book in advance.

How many people can fly in a hot air balloon?

There are balloons with capacities ranging from 2 to 12 people, and depending on the nuance you want to give to the experience, you can select whether you want a private, group experience, or a shared flight.

What kind of balloon flight activities can I do in Querétaro?

- Asking your partner to marry you on a hot balloon flight will definitely be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which is why it has become such a popular option. You can customize the proposal according to your preferences, like breakfast or lunch with exquisite champagne, cava, or wine. This will only add to this magnificent experience.

- Another good time for a hot air balloon ride is if you want to reward your children for their good behaviour or excellent academic results. This surprise will encourage them to behave even better.

- If you are celebrating a specific occasion, this is an excellent opportunity to select something that will enhance the experience. Some businesses will allow you to place a canvas with the message of your choice. The conditions for this activity are usually consistent. In general, children from the age of five must be accompanied by an adult, and if they weigh more than 100 kg, we recommend that you discuss it before travelling, as there may be an additional cost. Another restriction applies to pregnant women. Unfortunately, this exercise is not suitable for pregnant ladies.

During the balloon flight, you will be accompanied by certified personnel who guarantee a safe and high-quality service. The personnel will be in charge of finding the right wind currents for the flight. Yes, you read that right! It is called 'flying in a balloon', but what this aircraft really does is float, thanks to the gas and cold air pumped into the balloon, carried forth in the direction of the wind. The captain's distribution of hot air will determine the elevation.

The most spectacular aspect of this experience is that you will observe how the balloons are assembled and gently inflated as the sun rises. You can even photograph each stage of this unforgettable activity and even participate in it. You'll get into the basket and embark on one of the most exciting experiences of your life. Keep in mind that the flights take place in the early morning before the sun rises, so have a good night's sleep the night before and pay attention to every second you're in the clouds!

What should I bring on the day of the activity?

This air sport does not necessitate the use of any special equipment. We merely recommend that you dress appropriately for the weather on the day of your flight and that you follow all of the pilot's safety instructions. Depending on the day's weather conditions, flights can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.

As if that wasn't enough, you will spend time with the flight captain who will give you in-depth explanations about the sites that the balloon will be flown over and which are also tourist attractions in this town. He will clarify all your doubts and explain the function and characteristics of the aircraft. You will be given a certificate, you will make a toast with him, and a souvenir photo will be taken.

We will fly over water parks, crop farms, and the region's traditional vineyards, as well as experience a gorgeous sunrise. The pink quarry stone of its churches and the squares scattered around them will be easily identifiable. You will be enchanted by the sights, and you will be fascinated by how the other balloons embellish the Tequisquiapan peaks as they travel through the clouds. As you reach the highest point, you will be stunned by the vista, but don't worry! Instead of experiencing typical vertigo, you will feel serene. This will be a memorable time for you.

After your flight, the company will generally wait for you with a great breakfast. If it is not included in your package, you will discover delicious selections in the restaurants of the downtown squares. You'll have plenty of time to plan another activity, such as riding a lovely horse around town or visiting a relaxing temazcal, a traditional sauna in the vicinity.
