Club Igualada-Ódena

The Club Igualada-Ódena is currently made up of a total of 120 members. This human team is what makes it possible for the Club to carry out its light plane flights and non-motorized flights every weekend and on holidays.

Years ago, we had no airplanes, no hangars, no flying fields, just an illusion. With effort and a great desire to make this dream come true, we acquired the first private glider in the country. Subsequently, the sailing section of the Barcelona-Sabadell Aeroclub was inaugurated in Igualada in 1967.

You will find us at the General Vives Aerodrome in Igualada-Òdena, less than an hour from Barcelona. At theClub Igualada-Ódenawe share the tasks that need to be carried out among all of us. You will always have the advice of the best professionals.

If you want to know what it feels like to be a flight pilot, with Club Igualada-Ódena you can make that dream come true! We offer tourist flights and Pilot for a Day experiences so that you can enter the world of aviation with professional pilots.

You can take a plane ride from the General Vives Aerodrome in Igualada-Òdena with an experienced pilot to visit different areas of Catalonia, being able to fly to the Pyrenees to see some of the highest mountains in the country, as well as visit the coast of Tarragona or the Costa Brava.

The 30-minute flights will allow us to go to the Cardona Castle in the north, towards Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú in the south, towards the San Llorenç del Munt Natural Park and Obac in the east or towards Montblanc, on the slopes of the Prades Mountains in the west.

On the other hand, if you opt for a longer flight, 1 hour long, you can choose between the Pyrenees in the area of Cerdanya and the Sierra del Cadí in the north, Tarragona in the south, Montseny and the Costa Brava de Blanes in the east or Lleida and the Sierra de Montsec in the west.

Come discover gliding at the Igualada-Ódena Club! We have two different options to offer you:
 

• Initiation flights: Those people who come to take a test prior to the Sailboat Pilot course. Includes a starter pack of 10, to be completed in 3 months. For minors between 16 and 18, parental authorization is required.

• Course for the Glider Title: The behavior of the sailboat is taught, the effect of the controls on it, the importance of speed and the effect of the airbrakes, 30 minutes of flight. The pilot is introduced to the towing and landing phase as well as a review of the first flight. It also explains how to take advantage of the lift in a thermal, 30 minutes of flight.

The best thing is that for this activity there are no age limits, you just have to be willing to live an aerial adventure aboard a two-seater glider sailboat.
