Company Overview

The Free Flight Brescia Association unites all the vololiberals from Brescia who are passionate about flying hang gliding and paragliding.

It was founded in 1999 by two historic city clubs: the Brixia Flying Paragliding Club and the Delta Club Brescia and it is a non-profit association whose sole objective is to promote, represent and defend the practice of flying in Brescia. and in the province.

There are four different take-off areas, all accessible by car along wide paved roads. Near the take-offs there are numerous refreshment points , where families and pilots can enjoy moments of relaxation and tasting of typical local products.

At our Association it is possible to carry out cross flights even over distances of 100 km towards the north, flying over Pinzolo, Madonna di Campiglio to reach Val di Sole. You can also carry out triangular routes that touch the three lakes: Lake Garda , Lake Iseo and Lake Idro enjoying incredible landscapes.

The Association has an official landing site located in S.Polo (BS) but there is no shortage of opportunities to find an "off-field" landing.

If you are passionate about hang gliding and paragliding, come and visit us !! We look forward to seeing you in Brescia!

Summary Hang Gliding

Hang gliding is a specialty of free flight without motor and takes its name from the delta shape of the tool. It is an individual sport , not an Olympic one, and is generally practiced on the mountains and hills near the sea, but also, albeit rarely, on the great plains. The practice of hang gliding allows humans to hover in the air without the aid of the engine. The particular shape of the profile generates aerodynamic forces capable of supporting a weight and gliding.

There are two categories of means according to the physical characteristics:

  • The FAI 1 : it is a category that includes vehicles consisting of a classic wing, without controls and with pendulum drive.
  • FAI 2 : it is a less common category that includes vehicles consisting of a rigid wing with aerodynamic action controls.

The hang glider consists of a semi-rigid wing in the shape of a Greek delta with a supporting structure made up of four alloy tubes, which stretch a synthetic fiber veil.

The pilot is harnessed under the wing in a horizontal prone position, he controls the vehicle by means of a trapeze. It also has an emergency parachute, a helmet and some tools, such as the altimeter, anemometer and variometer.

Summary Paragliding

The history of paragliding attributes the birth of paragliding to several nations. The most common story tells that, in 1978, three French paratroopers, to reduce costs, began the first flights with their launch wings. Later this practice developed and began to gain the interest of many flying enthusiasts and mountain lovers. At this point the evolution of the paraglider took its own path, gradually detaching itself from that of the launch parachute. Over the years, the qualities of the sail fabric were improved up to the paragliding sails currently used.

The paraglider has nothing in common with the launch parachute, although it derives directly from the latter. The wing of the paraglider consists of a wing that uses air currents to be able to fly and support yourself. The wing itself is made of a fabric-like material with parallel strips held together by a number of vertical membranes. The pilot drives the vehicle seated and held in a harness. The "brakes" are represented by two sets of lanyards that are operated directly by the pilot. The equipment includes: the reserve parachute, the radio, the helmet, the variometer, the compass and the GPS.
