What to expect from a paintball game

Paintball is played in teams on outdoor sites, usually woodland or open fields with bunkers and forts, using markers that fire small balls of paint. Each game has its own goal: capture the other team's flag, defend a building or reach a point on the map before the others. After a safety briefing the marshals hand out overalls, a full-face mask and the marker, and they referee every game. A session runs from an hour or two to a full day, with several short games and breaks in between, and the number of paintballs depends on the package.

A paintball hit stings for a moment and can leave a small bruise. For younger players there is low-impact paintball, with smaller, softer paint that doesn't stain, usually for ages 8 to 12. Paintball is a classic choice for stag and hen parties, birthdays and work groups, and some full-day packages include lunch. Some sites keep junior players in separate games from adults. Wear old clothes and boots or trainers with good grip, because woodland gets muddy.

What you need

  • Minimum age of 10 to 12 for standard paintball, depending on the site.
  • Low-impact paintball is for younger children, usually from 8 to 12.
  • Some sessions are for adults over 18 only.
  • Old clothes and sturdy footwear, as the overalls go on top.

Frequently asked questions

How long is it valid?

5 years from purchase. The exact date is printed on the voucher.

What if they don't fancy paintball?

The voucher works for any other experience on Yumping.

Can it be used in several goes?

Yes. Whatever isn't spent stays in their Yumping wallet.

Does it hurt?

A hit stings for a second and may leave a mark. The overalls and the mask take most of it, and low-impact games are much softer.

Can a group of friends go together?

Yes, it's a group game by nature. Each player pays for a place: the voucher covers what it reaches and the rest is paid on top, or each person gets a voucher.

What if the weather is bad?

If the site cancels because of the weather, you choose another date with them.
